MODIS-based real-time imaging of chlorophyll and suspended sediment concentrations on Lake Balaton

Regular satellite-based mapping of the most important water quality parameters of Lake Balaton, namely chlorophyll-a and suspended sediment concentration has been a development goal for a long time. Now we have a functional (beta) version online that calibrates MODIS satellite images in near-real time and uploads them for web viewing and access.
This was developed in collaboration with dr. Anikó Kern and Zsófia Koma at the department of Geophysics and Space Science of the Eötvös Loránd University.
